Mango, one of Europe’s leading fashion groups, is continuing its expansion and brand consolidation in the UK with plans to open over 20 stores in 2024. This growth focuses on increasing its presence in London and Scotland, as well as entering several cities in Northern Ireland and central and southern England for the first time.
“The UK is one of Mango’s priority markets for international growth. Expanding our presence in London and entering new cities this year will solidify the Mango brand and enhance our international strength,” says Daniel López, Mango’s Director of Expansion and Franchising.
This year, the company plans to open four stores in London, in addition to the store that opened in February at Windsor Yards shopping centre near Windsor Castle. Mango will also expand in Scotland with new stores in Glasgow and Edinburgh, and it will establish a presence in cities in Northern Ireland, as well as in central and southern England.
The new Mango stores will feature the New Med Mediterranean-inspired store concept, reflecting the brand’s spirit and freshness. This design emphasizes sustainability and architectural integration, envisioning the Mango store as a Mediterranean home with different spaces. The design will use warm tones and neutral colors, along with traditional, handcrafted, sustainable, and natural materials such as ceramics, tuff, wood, marble, esparto grass, and leather.
Mango in the UK
Mango has been present in the UK since 1999. In 2021, the company strengthened its presence by opening a flagship store on Oxford Street in London, along with three additional stores in Manchester, Edinburgh, and Derby.
In 2022, Mango expanded further in the north by opening a store in Glasgow Fort, the city’s main shopping and leisure centre. It also opened stores at the Bluewater shopping centre in Dartford, the fifth largest in the country, and at Battersea Power Station in London. At the end of the year, Mango launched its first store in Newcastle, located in the Eldon Square shopping centre, one of the most-visited in the country.
Last year, Mango opened more than 10 stores, primarily in the south and centre of the country, in major cities such as Bristol, London, Manchester, and Leeds. Notably, it opened a store in Westfield Stratford City, one of the largest shopping centres in the UK. Additionally, the company entered Brighton for the first time with a 470 m² store in the Churchill Square shopping centre.
By the end of the 2023 financial year, Mango had 60 stores across the UK, including company stores, franchises, and corners in department stores, as well as a digital presence through its own online channel and other marketplaces.
